Ginger
Posted by MLove Mar22

Often mis-titled as a root, ginger is used as not only as medicinal herb but also as a culinary herb.  This subterranean stem is best used fresh!

I mainly use ginger in my morning citrus juices.  I get the great release of vitamin C going along with ginger to be the barrier of any sickness that be may be lurking on your local grocery cart or supermarket door.  Ginger warm your soul and freshens your thinking to take on the busy day of any entrepreneur or goal driven professional! It is not only a great raw herb but delightful in your afternoon cup of warm green tea with lemon!

Some of Ginger’s great benefits include:

  • helps digest fatty foods and break down proteins
  • excellent for reducing gas
  • relieve nausea, morning sickness as well as motion sickness
  • reduce inflammation -such as arthritis or ulcerative colitis
  • help inhibit the replication of the herpes simplex virus.
  • help knock out a fever
  • stimulate circulation of the blood
  • relax muscles around blood vessels and is said to help prevent blood clots from forming
  • warming effects make it a natural decongestant as well as an antihistamine, making it the perfect remedy for colds.

Recent studies show that ginger may play a role in reducing LDL cholesterol due to the spice which can help lower the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed and can help slow or even prevent cancerous tumor growth.

Volatile oils: Gingerols and Shogaols

These oil are responsible for ginger’s pungent taste. They produce more digestive enzymes which aids with the whole digestion process and neutralizes the acids that can cause nausea, cramps and even diarrhea.

So snuggle up with ginger folks!  It is a great addition to God’s Pharmacy!

Have a blessed day!~Melissa Leslie-Quinones
